Do you need a refresher course in Resumes 101?  If you’re thinking of a job in medical revenue, pharmaceutical sales, clinical diagnostics sales, hospital equipment sales, clinical device sales, imaging sales, biotechnology revenue, DNA products revenue, pathology sales, cellular or molecular products sales, surgical supplies sales, or pharma sales, here’s what a pathology revenue recruiter wants to see:

1.       Clear contact information:  Believe it or not, some candidates only put their name, phone number, and e-mail in this section.  I need an actual address, too.  Don’t make it hard for me to figure out where you’re.

2.       A Clear Objective:  what do you want?

3.       Job experience and accomplishments:  What have you done that will make you a great fit for THIS job?  If you can back it up with numbers (i.e., “I increased sales by 30%”), do it.  I’m not especially interested in your education and GPA if you’ve had more than a few years of experience…I wanna know what you’ve done on the position.

4.       Activities and Awards:  Some will advise you to put something “interesting” about yourself so that you stand out, but I’m telling you that you’ll be better served if you tailor these things, too, to activities that directly relate to the job (you belong to an industry-specific group, you spoke at ABC Conference, you won ________ award for job performance).

Throughout your resume, use keywords that will help me and my ATS (Applicant Tracking System) discover you.

All of this needs to be organized clearly (using bullet points helps) and spell-checked.  Check it, double-check it, and get a friend to look at it.  If you need professional help, get it.  Here’s a link to more Resume Basics to help you get started.
